When she started her medical residency, Gabi Martinez never imagined that a chunk of Arizona would be torn out of our reality and dropped into the Mosaic: an endless battleground of strange gods and their magically empowered champions. Survival meant joining a small group of scavengers, scrounging for supplies and scraps of magic as rival domains warred over the snow-covered ruins of Phoenix.

But when they are caught in the middle of a disastrous battle, three of Gabi’s closest friends are captured by the enemy, while Gabi finds herself in possession of a stolen magical power. If she can master the alien ability, it could be everything they need to rise above a desperate life on the margins, but none of that matters if she can’t get her friends back.
